Xiaomi has a big-ticket event planned on May 31 in China to celebrate its eighth anniversary. Along with new smartphones, Xiaomi will also introduce a new version of its MIUIinterface—MIUI 10. The interface was first teased in January this year and Xiaomi claims it to be the fastest MIUI interface till date. The upcoming MIUI 10 will replace version 9 which was launched in India last year. It will focus more on providing artificial intelligence (AI) features aided with machine learning.
As far as performance of the MIUI 10 is concerned, users can expect some boost and an overall enhancement in user experience. There will be new ‘Settings’ along with new themes. Users can expect new features in the camera app as well. While there is confirmation, Xiaomi could also launch its Xiao AI assistant.
The new MIUI 10 can be expected to be featured in the eight-anniversary smartphone- the Mi 8. The Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone could sport a 6.01-inch display and be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor. The front camera is expected to come with 3D face recognition and artificial intelligence features for capturing selfies.
Other reports have also suggested that the Mi 8 will be Xiaomi’s first handset to feature the in-display fingerprint sensor as well have the iPhone X-like notch. Adding to these is a latest leaked image as spotted on Weibo, that reveals the upcoming Mi 8 will come in two storage variants – 6GB RAM and 64 GB storage for CNY2,799 (approximately Rs 29,918) and a high-end variant featuring 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage that will be priced at CNY 3,199 (approximately Rs 34,193). The company reportedly could launch the Mi Band 3 at the same event. The Mi Band 3 is expected to flaunt a touchscreen display minus any physical buttons.
